D/AM and Douglas/Elbert Cty Regions: Seed Share!
Volunteers Needed Public Welcome Family-Friendly Free Event Seed/Plant Share Wheelchair Accessible Free Public Parking
Fall seed share for the Denver /Aurora Metro Region and Douglas/Elbert County Region.
We'll be set up in the Kingfisher Studio. Wild Ones members from all regions have special access from 10 - 11 am. Public access begins at 11 am. We are asking members to register in advance to streamline the check in process on the day of the event.
As you plan your visit, consider dropping into the free Carson Nature Center, the larger building next to where the Swap is taking place. Explore the exhibits, walk the native plant garden, use the interactive river table, view live reptiles and amphibians, and pick up the winter programming menu. You can also access the Mary Carter Greenway Trail and over 4 miles of natural surface walking trails along the South Platte River. Winter waterfowl are beginning to arrive on the lakes. Please note, Wild Ones is a partner that collects seeds under a permit, and otherwise there is no wild collecting on your explorations!
Parking at the Nature Center is often busy with trail users. Plan to use overflow parking in the RTD Mineral Park-n-Ride lot near Santa Fe and Mineral. Park on the north side of the lot, west of South Platte River Parkway (across from Panera Bread in Aspen Grove Shopping Center) and walk down the sidewalk along Carson Drive to the Studio about 200 yards. The RTD lot has a formal agreement with CNC for overflow parking on weekends so there is no fee or restriction on use for visiting the Park. Accessible parking is available in the Nature Center public lot or the “Authorized Vehicles” lot. Due to construction, there are no left turns into or out of South Platte River Parkway from Mineral Avenue – come through the Aspen Grove Shopping Center to return to Santa Fe when you leave!
